Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre

CMBTC is based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and functions as an independent, non-profit industry organization that provides malting and brewing technical expertise to the Canadian malting barley value chain.

Their facilities include a state-of-the-art malting plant and pilot brewery, and their offerings for our industry include technical services, marketing support, applied research as well as Malt Academy (which both Matt and Joe are graduates of!)

We got to catch up on the exciting work that our friends, Dr Yueshu Li and Peter Watts from CMBTC are doing to support barley and malting in Canada. It's a real treat to have the farmers, maltsters, and industry experts standing in a Canadian barley field together!

We managed to sneak in a tour through our Lowe, Connect and Churchill barley fields with John, just before we pulled out the new combine and started harvesting (there's always work to do on the farm!)

We had some incredible conversations, and we're looking forward to the new projects they're doing on behalf of Canadian barley and malting!
